The world is changing.
So, what does that mean for travel and relationships?
We're undoubtedly living in complicated times, and yet travelling remains one of the few certainties that still makes us feel good.
So naturally we asked ourselves, why is this? And how are our travels, and our relationships, changing?
5,689 people from all over Europe took part in our survey; sharing their experiences, feelings, and hopefully getting their bags ready.
Does geopolitics shape the way we travel?
Trips are a great way to disconnect from socials.
Only 0.37% of people choose a destination because it's Instagrammable.
26% choose trips in order to escape social media.
And 61% have either tried a digital detox or would love to give it a go.
We asked people if they felt the need for real experiences to offset online time.
How we choose where to go:
82% of people take ethical concerns into account.
50% avoid countries involved in armed conflicts.
27% rule out destinations where human rights aren't respected.
And it's not just about traveling for fun, we travel to.
We also do it for our mental wellbeing:
57% say that travelling is a chance to grow.
45% chose to travel to get through a tough time.
4% were actually advised to do so by their therapist.
And then there's loneliness.
55% of people report feeling lonely in their daily lives.
But making new friends after 30 isn't exactly easy.
40% say they find it difficult.
58% feel it's gotten much harder in recent years.
So how do we actually meet new people?
Thanks for taking part!
